Working in the American West!
Hi there, my name is Bridgette! I spent this past year working in Yellowstone National Park, roughly 3,500 square miles resting atop a volcano in the American West. Yellowstone is located mostly in the state of Wyoming though it crosses over into Montana and Idaho borders as well. Yellowstone is home to hundreds of animal species, geo thermals, rivers, canyons, and forests. The American bison are of the top attraction to see in the park. The bison often take over the main road through the park, causing even more traffic congestion to America’s busiest national park. Many tourists flock to the bison to capture the perfect photo, little do many of them know just how dangerous this animal can be if provoked. There were 53 bison attacks in 2022 alone. Park rangers advise park guests to stay at least 100 yards away from wildlife in the park.
Yellowstone is a top location for those who love to fish! Fly fishing is the way to go when visiting the park. There are 13 native fish species and 6 introduced species. Many people plan trips to Yellowstone just to fish!
The park has more than 900 miles of hiking trails, and 15 miles of boardwalks! Camping is allowed with a permit. It is advised to always carry bear spray, as the bears are very active during the summers!
I spent my time here working in hospitality and loved every aspect of my job. I worked at a glamping resort that attracts people from across all the states and sometimes travelers from other countries as well! I spent my time off rafting, climbing, fishing, hiking, and backpacking! My job felt like I was on vacation with the guests. I have been fortunate enough to see many of America’s national parks, and I truly believe that Yellowstone is the most spectacular of them all! If you enjoy nature, visiting the wild west truly encaptures the Americana experience.
Many of the geothermal areas average 198 degrees Fahrenheit, or 92 degrees Celsius.
