A Visit to Dracula’s Castle
Bran Castle, often known as “Dracula’s Castle,” stands in the heart of Transilvania. Nestled in the Carpathian Mountains, this legendary fortress has a rich history, primarily associated with the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s iconic novel, “Dracula.” While the castle’s connection to Vlad the Impaler (the historical figure on whom Dracula is loosely based) is debated, visitors are still drawn to its mysterious aura, dark corridors, and hilltop views. I was fortunate enough to visit this iconic castle on a snowy day in November of this year and as a dedicated fan of the Dracula lore, this quickly became one of my favorite trips I had ever taken. The area surrounding the castle had several charming small shops and vendors selling Romanian products and food that added to the overall ambiance, providing a highly immersive experience. To this day, Bran Castle remains an iconic symbol of Romania’s culture and the enduring legacy of the infamous Dracula tale and I highly recommend making the trip if you ever visit Transilvania.
