A Hidden Gem In Africa

Located in the far north east of Africa there is a country seldom known by people or explored by travelers.
I am of course talking about Eritrea, the country bordered between the Red Sea and Ethiopia. Eritrea is the cradle of humanity civilization, dwelling of wildlife and of course myself.

Eritrea though small has varied ecosystems, on the northern east coast of Eritrea are the hot, arid coastal plains. There are also the highlands, reaching up to 3,000 m, that contain both sub tropical rainforests and canyons.

Eritrea is also the home to several species of mammals, birds and insects. Mammals found in Eritrea include the gazelles, warthogs, foxes, elephants, hyenas, leopards, crocodile, lions and more!

The capital city Asmara is very stylistically made a unique mishmash of Art Deco architecture, vintage barber shops and age-old Orthodox churches. Hours can be spent strolling along Asmara’s palm tree-lined boulevards, sipping macchiato and getting to know its people. Asmara, Eritrea, has got so much character and unique flair. In today’s era, it is hard to find a time-warped city with such little influence from the outside world.

However what sets Eritrea apart are its people, the most wonderful, kind and helpful people await you in Eritrea and would happily share with you a homemade dish and Eritrean cuisine is sure to be highlight of the trip.

So if you’re looking for something different, something hidden, something beautiful then Eritrea is the gem for you.
